This course focuses on Sinology and Chinese language education in Poland. It begins with an introduction to the historical background and development of Polish Sinology, highlighting the most important research centers and the translation of Chinese literary works into Polish. It then examines Chinese language teaching in Poland, which has long been closely connected with Polish Sinology, including its teaching materials, methodologies, curricular structures, and pedagogical goals. Finally, the course addresses the role of political studies within Polish Sinology, exploring how Poland’s relations with both the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China in different historical periods have shaped the field and how these dynamics are reflected in Polish Sinological research.
