日本視野下的日本與中國近現代史/How Japanese Recognized Modern Japan and China History

Since the modern era, Japan has not only observed but also actively participated in the profound transformations that unfolded on the Asian continent and across the East Asian seas. It has devoted significant attention to the political circumstances and intellectual currents of the region. This course invites distinguished Japanese scholars of modern and contemporary Japanese and Chinese history to examine how the Japanese academic community has approached the study of Japan’s and China’s modern history, with attention to political thought, key figures, and historiography. Through close textual analysis and engagement with broader historical contexts, students will develop a deeper understanding of modern Chinese political history and thought, while also reflecting on their connections with present-day Taiwan, China, and Japan.
